We believe in the power of nature to heal and inspire. Our walks encourage participants to embrace the present moment, fostering a deep connection with the natural world around us.
Mindful Meanderings are walking journeys which, rather than being a predefined route from A to B, are about being ‘in the moment’ as we wander through and connect with our natural surroundings, practising gratitude and finding joy along the way, as the impulse takes us.
Many of us recognise how little time we spend outdoors as compared to time indoors. Often too, we are indoors using WiFi-enabled devices in spaces that can be filled with toxic building components for hours on end, every day. We also probably recognise that the quality of the time we do spend outside isn’t that great and new 'conditions' such as nature deficit disorder, highlight how bad things have become.... how disconnected we are from nature and thus, ourselves.
To 'meander' is defined as: ‘to move slowly in no particular direction with no clear purpose’. We are so often driven by deadlines and outcomes in our activities, Mindful Meanderings specifically counter the frenzy of daily life and follow a leisurely pace often with pauses to ‘take in’ a beautiful spot, engage in conscious activities and generally cover a looping route.
Thankfully more people are embracing the Nordic philosophy of ‘friluftsliv’ (free-loofts-liv) or ‘life in the open air’ and enjoying activities such as forest bathing, a timeless tradition called Shinrin-yoku in Japan. Mindful Meanderings are specifically about consciously choosing to take quality time outdoors and practising mindfulness while outside, quietly contemplating nature’s and our own beauty - connecting back in to the core of our being.
